Giveaway! “Legend” & “Prodigy (Legend #2)” by Marie Lu!

Hey there, folks!

The guys at Penguin Teen/Penguin Young Readers USA have been kind enough to supply the following – a set of the paperback editions of the first two books in the “Legend” trilogy by Marie Lu – “Legend and “Prodigy” – so I thought, why not do a giveaway? I love this trilogy, and I can’t wait to see what happens when it’s finished developing into either a movie or TV show (things seem to be a bit fuzzy on that front).

Anyway, the details:

What you’ll be getting – the first two books in the trilogy in paperback format.

What do you have to do to get these?

1. Live in the US only. As far as I know, at least. Penguin Teen is sending these out, so…yeah.

2. Leave a comment, stating which book is your favorite, OR, what your favorite character is and why! (Try to keep it spoiler free). Don’t forget to leave your contact info – name and email – when you do!

3. For an extra entry, retweet the following: RT @usagiko WIN A #LEGEND PRIZE SET FROM @PENGUINTEEN & @MARIE_LU here! Don’t forget to link me to your retweet in your initial comment entry!

4. Wait for me to pick a person and win!

That’s it for now! I’ll announce a winner next week!

Exclusive! “Champion (Legend #3)” by Marie Lu – Trailer & Giveaway!

Hey, guys! Usagi here. Just thought I’d pass along this tidbit from Penguin Teen – the trailer for one of my favorite dystopian series in the last few years’ third book, “Legend”, is now out!

And best of all? We have a giveaway!

More details on that later. For now, here’s the trailer. I know I can’t wait for book three – how about you guys?

NICE. Seriously awesome trailer, there. I can’t wait to see what CBS Films does with the rights to “Legend”. Seriously, guys, at the edge of my seat here.

Now, for the extra fun part – the giveaway! Here are the details:

What you’ll win:

photoA poster with the redesigned cover for all three books, and three sets of temporary tattoos with those same designs!

Pretty sweet, amirite?

What do you have to do to get this?

1. Live in the US only. Sorry, guys, I have to mail these out myself – and even though I finally have a full-time job going on, the USPS is starting to get ridiculously expensive enough just doing domestic shipping.

2. Leave a comment, stating which book is your favorite, OR, what you’re looking forward to most within “Champion”! (Try to keep it spoiler free). Don’t forget to leave your contact info – name and email – when you do!

3. For an extra entry, retweet the following: RT @usagiko WIN A #CHAMPION PRIZE SET FROM @PENGUINTEEN & @MARIE_LU here! Don’t forget to link me to your retweet in your initial comment entry!

4. Wait for me to pick a person and win! I’ll be running this contest for awhile – I’m still waiting for materials to come in from Penguin itself – so maybe for a few weeks? I’ll keep you guys updated.

That’s it for now! I’ll be reviewing “Prodigy” soon, so look forward to that!

Exclusive Cover Reveal: “Flicker & Burn” and “Cold Fury” by TM Goeglein!

A super special, two-for-one cover reveal! “Cold Fury”, by T.M. Goeglein, has been redesigned, as well as the second installment in the “Cold Fury” trilogy, “Flicker & Burn”! “Cold Fury” in paperback will be released in June 2013, and “Flicker & Burn” comes roaring onto the scene in August 2013!

COLDFURYnewcompsAAACOVER REVEALED!: “Flicker & Burn (Cold Fury #2)” and revamped cover for “Cold Fury”

AUTHOR: TM Goeglein

SLATED RELEASE DATE:  June 2013 (Cold Fury)/August 2013 (Flicker & Burn) (Penguin – North America)

OFFICIAL BLURB: The thrill ride that began in Cold Fury kicks into high gear in Flicker & Burn, as the threats to Sara Jane Rispoli come at her from all directions. She continues the desperate search for her missing family, but this time she’s  the run from creepy beings with red, pulsing eyes and ghostly white skin chasing her through the streets of Chicago in black ice cream trucks – they can only be described as Ice Cream Creatures. They’re skeletal and ferocious, hell-bent on catching or killing her, but also a weird link to her family, a clue to where they might be and who has them.

While Sara Jane battles these new pursuers, she learns painful lessons about the phenomenon that possesses her, cold fury. At the same time, she’s uncovering buried secrets about the misdeeds of her family – old murders and blood vendettas – that might be connected to the disappearance of her mom, dad, and brother. The mysteries, violence, and constant state of chasing or being chased could be the undoing of her relationship with handsome Max Kissberg. Despite the love growing between them, Sara Jane can’t tell him the truth about her life, and fears for his safety.

Not only do the Ice Cream Creatures display the grisly amputated finger of her mom to prove their viciousness, and not only does Lucky, the Outfit Boss of Bosses, whistle in Sara Jane for a sit-down with deadly consequences, but her gorgeous cousin, Heather Richards, enters the scene, as well. All that matters to Sara Jane is saving her family and keeping everyone she loves alive and safe. But the forces she encounters, both external and the ones crackling inside of her, fight her every step of the way.

Comments: I don’t know about you guys, but I’m digging these redesigned covers for this trilogy. I know, I know, I usually bitch and moan whenever a publisher/author decides to do this, and there are a few exceptions where I feel like the change has been for the better. This is one of them. Though I did like the hardcover first print version of the cover for “Cold Fury”, I feel like this one really kind of illuminates (pardon the pun) the heart of the story. So for now, I’m liking it. And I definitely can’t wait to read “Flicker & Burn”!

Now, for a special contest! Have you read “Cold Fury”? Did you like it? If so, do you want to win an ARC copy of “Flicker & Burn”? OF COURSE YOU DO! Now you can.  Just leave a comment on this post, and I’ll use to pick a winner.

Details/Rules (IMPORTANT!):

– US ONLY. Sorry, international readers. This is at the request of the author/publisher. I can’t do anything about it.

– The ARC will be unsigned and will arrive as soon as they’re printed and available (I’m guessing somewhere around late spring next year).

– One entry per household. Just to make it fair.

– I’ll pick a winner in two weeks and will announce them on the blog, as well as get in touch with them via email. If they don’t respond within 48 hours, I will pick a new winner.

SO! Leave a comment with your name and email address, and you’re good to go! And be sure to add both books to your GR, Shelfari, or Librarything shelves, if you haven’t already. I know I have!

Giveaway! Win a copy of “Ten Things We Did” for your beach bag o’ reads! (US ONLY)

Okay, so, rafflecopter is NOT playing nice with wordpress, so we’re going to be doing this the old fashioned way.

Do you want a new book to add to your beach bag to take with you to the beach/pool/on vacation this year? Well, now you can win one! Specifically, 1 (one) fresh, brand new finished copy of “Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn’t Have)” by Sarah Mlynowski! HarperTeen has been good to me as my time as a book blogger so far, and now they want to be good to you, too – so they’re providing the prize!

I admit I haven’t read this yet, but it will be going in my pool bag on vacation this year. It looks fun, and vacation’s the time for me to blow some steam off and read the fun/sexytime books. I know a lot of friends who have enjoyed it, so I hope you do too!

So, what do have to do to get your paws on this puppy?

Leave a comment with the following: your name, email, and what beach read you’re looking forward to most this year!

+5 for following me on twitter (@usagiko) – if you choose to do this, be sure to leave your twitter handle in your mandatory comment!
+5 for tweeting the following: “Wish me luck! I just entered to win a FC of “Ten Things We Did” in @usagiko’s awesome beach bag of reads giveaway!” – if you choose to do this, be sure to leave the direct link of your tweet in your comment so I can find it and count it in later.

US ONLY. Sorry everyone else, but these are HarperTeen’s terms, not mine, as they are very kindly providing the prize for this giveaway. I will not be sending the book to you, HarperTeen will, so please allow for some processing time between the end of the contest and when you get the book. Winners have 48 hours to reply to my email (and tweet, if you decide to follow me on twitter) to send me their address, or I will have to pick a new winner. I will be using’s generator to pick a winner. There will only be one winner.

This contest will go from 6/16/12 (today) until 6/23/12 (next Saturday). I will close the post for entries, and then take a day or two to pick a winner. After that, I’ll email the winner and pass their information onto HarperTeen so they can get their prize!

So, guys, good luck! And may the odds be ever in your favor!

In which I apologize for my neglect, and offer a shiny new teaser for the “Cinder” audiobook.

Judging by the picture to your left, you now know where I’ve been the last few weeks. Yes, I completed my book (finally, after 1.5 years of writing it!) on Thursday. I haven’t slept much this week, so I’m a little loopy.  This is my first year finally completing NaNo, or not having to drop out due to illness or other circumstances. So I’m really over the moon that I’ve been able to do this.

But not without cost. Sorry, dear reader, for neglecting you. So to make up for things, I’ve teamed up with Macmillan to offer you a preview of the audiobook edition of Marissa Meyer’s “Cinder”! It’s awesome.

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN! (requires flash)

Now, wasn’t that awesome? I can’t wait to listen to this version of it! The “Cinder” audiobook will be released on January 3rd, 2012 in North America. If you live elsewhere, consult your nearest bookseller for more information.

Stay tuned, because if you liked that, you’ll love the giveaway Macmillan has graciously given me the opportunity to create for you! More details on that coming soon. And yeah, I’ll give the blog more love this month and in coming months. ❤
