Teaser Tuesday: Week 107

ShouldBeReadingTeaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

•Grab your current read

•Open to a random page
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

16059426This week’s teaser comes from “Love in the Time of Global Warming” by Francesca Lia Block  (USAGI):

I can make out doors and windows, crumbled fireplaces, tiles, metal pipes, shingles, signs that read Foreclosure. The homes of so many skeletons. People, who used to fight over the last blueberry muffin at the breakfast table, get down on their knees to scrub bathroom floors, kiss each other good night, thinking they were at least relatively safe. Now they are just bones in the debris.

I climb through the rubble toward the door. It takes a long time, time enough for a Giant to see me from the red stained-eye window and reach out to crush me in his hand the size of a tractor.

This week’s teaser comes from Bad Apple by Laura Ruby (ASHLEIGH):

Bad Apple“I actually threw a dinner party in their honor. Never again. She and that appalling sister of hers insulted the decor. They insulted the food. They insulted their father. And they verbally brutalized me.

“So if you’re asking if I’m surprised at what happened, the answer is a definite no. I wouldn’t put anything past either of those girls. And no wonder. Just look at their mother.

-Hannelore Miller, stepmother
