Teaser Tuesday: Week 106

ShouldBeReadingTeaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

•Grab your current read

•Open to a random page
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

17675016This week’s teaser comes from “Captive: the Forbidden Side of Nightshade” by AD Robertson (Andrea Cremer)  (USAGI):

The Searchers’ mission transformed accordingly, but became twofold. While their warriors tried to infiltrate the sites and recover the pieces, their scholars searched for clues within Cian’s prophecy. For their patron’s words not only spoke of the weapon that would close the rift through which the nether realm gained access to the world, but also of the warrior who would wield the Elemental Cross.

Shrouded in mystery, the Searchers knew only these things: that the child would be born the first of August, the day of the ancient harvest holiday, and that this long-awaited warrior would be the child of a traitor.

This week’s teaser comes from Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn (ASHLEIGH):

Charm & StrangeThe directive is handed down the following morning: We’re not allowed in the back woods on the far side of the river anymore. This is expected and I’m not sure what took so long, but the entire student body is complaining and making idiotic arguments like how there’s a greater chance of dying in a dorm room fire than being eaten by a wild animal so maybe we should all strip naked, cover ourselves in fire-retardant foam, and sleep in the parking lot.

You know, just in case.
