Waiting on Wednesday: Week 80

“Waiting  On Wednesday” is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Here’s what we’re waiting on this Wednesday:

13641105♡ Title: “Parasite”

♡ Author: Mira Grant

♡ Release Date: October 29, 2013 (North America)

♡ Publisher: Orbit (Hachette)

♡ Synopsis: A decade in the future, humanity thrives in the absence of sickness and disease.

We owe our good health to a humble parasite – a genetically engineered tapeworm developed by the pioneering SymboGen Corporation. When implanted, the tapeworm protects us from illness, boosts our immune system – even secretes designer drugs. It’s been successful beyond the scientists’ wildest dreams. Now, years on, almost every human being has a SymboGen tapeworm living within them.

But these parasites are getting restless. They want their own lives… and will do anything to get them.

♡ Why?: I loved the “Newsflesh” series (and love that Grant continues to write novellas for it!), and this is the start of her new series. Hopefully it’ll be as awesomely creepy and yet full of pathos as the other was. Seriously pining for this one, guys!

Rose Under FireAshleigh:

♡ Title: Rose Under Fire

♡ Author: Elizabeth Wein

♡ Release Date: September 10, 2013

♡ Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

♡ Synopsis: While flying an Allied fighter plane from Paris to England, American ATA pilot and amateur poet, Rose Justice, is captured by the Nazis and sent to Ravensbrück, the notorious women’s concentration camp. Trapped in horrific circumstances, Rose finds hope in the impossible through the loyalty, bravery and friendship of her fellow prisoners. But will that be enough to endure the fate that’s in store for her?

Elizabeth Wein, author of the critically-acclaimed and best-selling Code Name Verity, delivers another stunning WWII thriller. The unforgettable story of Rose Justice is forged from heart-wrenching courage, resolve, and the slim, bright chance of survival.

♡ Why?: Because it’s by Elizabeth fucking Wein, who wrote the amazing Code Name Verity. I’m still fangirling over that book and I therefore need Rose Under Fire YESTERDAY.
