Three Things Thursday: Week 12

So, it’s come time for me to fill the blog with things that matter more personally to me than just books. So here comes Three Things Thursday, a new meme to fill that space that’s left unoccupied by reading material. Okay, sometimes it will include books, but you get what I mean.

You can participate, too! Leave your link with your three things for this week’s prompt in the comments section. I’d love to have some friends doing this meme – the more, the merrier! ❤

This week’s three things are: three new spring 2012 anime shows I’m looking forward to!

Okay that came out kind of awkward, but the new anime season is right around the corner (in two weeks, in fact!) and with it, a whole bunch of new shows are about to start airing. So for this Thursday, I’ve chosen three shows I’m looking forward to the most.

1. Fate/Zero: Season 2: This is the second half of the “Fate/Zero” series that started airing last fall, then took a break for the winter season. I’m really loving F/Z more than its prequel, “Fate/Stay Night”, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. It’s going to spoil the original novels for me but at this point, I just want to find out what happens at the end to all of the participants trying to get the Holy Grail!

2. “Medaka Box”: Adapted from the manga written by one of my favorite Japanese light novel authors, Nisioisin, I’m really excited about this title finally making it to the small screen. The synopsis, courtesy of myanimelist.net: Kurokami Medaka, a first year, is elected as Student Council President, and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box, later dubbed by students the “Medaka Box”. Medaka encourages students to submit any problem to the box without hesitation and promises to take on any issue from anyone.

Since Medaka won the Student Council elections with a staggering 98% of the vote, she ends up as the Council’s only member. She asks her childhood friend, Hitoyoshi Zenkichi, for help and he grudgingly agrees, becoming the Student Council’s lowest ranking member. Soon Medaka recruits two more people to the Student Council, the former judo club member Akune Kouki as secretary and the current swim club member Kikaijima Mogana, on loan for 300 yen a day, as treasurer.

Now the Student Council members spend their days solving the problems submitted through the Medaka Box, whether they be hooligans in clubs where they don’t belong, girls who need help writing love letters or people who’ve lost their pets, gradually earning the respect and admiration of the entire school.

3. “The Twilight Maiden and Amnesia (Tasogare Otome x Amnesia)”: Another manga series I really love (and one I’m really behind on!) that I’m happy finally has gotten an adaptation. Its synopsis: The story takes place in Seikyou Private School. A facility that consists of multiple buildings that connect together to accommodate both junior and senior high school students. Sixty years of ongoing renovations and expansions have meant most of the old inner structures have been sealed and abandoned. Classrooms turned into storage rooms, staircases no longer in use, hallways like dark alleys. With the existence of such a maze-like building, it is only natural that rumours of the paranormal would appear.

One day first-year middle school student Teiichi Niiya gets lost in this maze and by chance arrives at an old storage room. This is where he meets Yuuko Kanoe, a mysterious girl with raven black, long silky hair and a tall and slender figure, who introduces herself as the ghost of the old school building. For some unexplainable reason Niiya is the only one able to see this spirit and she herself does not have any recollection of the reasons or time of her death, nor any lingering feelings about life itself. Curious about the circumstances of her death the two create a paranormal investigation club and seek to find out the truth about it and the many other mysteries surrounding the school.

Runners up: “Hyouka”, “Fishing ball/bait (Tsuritama)”, “Sankarea”, “Lupin the Third: The Woman Named Mine Fujiko (Lupid the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna)”, “Eureka Seven AO/Astral Ocean”, “Another (OAV episode)”
