On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. If you want to know more click here.
Week 22: Still looking for ARCs to review of “The Daughter of Smoke and Bone”, “Legend”, and “Hellbent” desperately, as well as some others! Let me know if you’re willing to send me a copy! If you want to send me a copy of your book for review, email me at usagiko at gmail dot com to let me know.
Here’s what’s on my wishlist this week:
1. The Nightmare Garden (Iron Codex #2)” by Caitlin Kittridge
Summary via goodreads: Everything Aoife thought she knew about the world was a lie. There is no Necrovirus. And Aoife isn’t going to succomb to madness because of a latent strain—she will lose her faculties because she is allergic to iron. Aoife isn’t human. She is a changeling—half human and half from the land of Thorn. And time is running out for her.
When Aoife destroyed the Lovecraft engine she released the monsters from the Thorn Lands into the Iron Lands and now she must find a way to seal the gates and reverse the destruction she’s ravaged on the world that’s about to poison her.
Why?: I loved, loved, loved the first book, and this sequel sounds even better than the first! I’m so very excited for this book, and Valentine’s Day next year can’t come soon enough. Seriously – if you’re into Lovecraft AND steampunk, you must check this series out.
2. “Cinder” by Marissa Meyer
Summary via goodreads: Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
Why?: I adore fairy tale retellings, AND cyborgs, and sci-fi, so this sounds like a delicious meal of a book for me, om nom nom. Another early 2012 release. Gah, why is all the good stuff going to be out in six months instead of one? Oh well. Either way, this sounds awesome, and I can’t wait to read it.
