Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy-For-Books.com. It’s a great way to meet new people and friends around the blogworld!
This week’s question is: “Let’s talk crazy book titles! Highlight one or two (or as many as you like!) titles in your personal collection that have the most interesting titles! If you can’t find any, feel free to find one on the internet!”
My Answer: Oh man, this is one of my favorite questions for this meme so far.
"Ikoku Meirou no Croisee (The Crossroads in a Foreign Labyrinth/Maze"
I’d have to say one of the more interesting titles in my collection is “Ikoku Meirou no Croisee”, which translates to “A Crossroads of a Foreign Labyrinth/Maze”. It’s French and Japanese mixed into one title, which I just think is hilarious, and strange because you see a lot of Engrish/Japanglish, but never French and Japanese. Not like that, at least. Taken out of context, it makes no sense, but once you read the story, it makes total sense.
The Synopsis: The story takes place in the second half of the 19th century, as Japanese culture gains popularity in the West. A young Japanese girl, Yune, accompanies a French traveller, Oscar Claudel, on his journey back to France, and offers to help at the family’s ironwork shop in Paris. Oscar’s nephew and shop owner Claude reluctantly accepts to take care of Yune, and we learn how those two, who have so little in common, get to understand each other and live together in the Paris of the 1800s. "The Nightmare Garden (Iron Codex #2)"
Let’s see? Another one, maybe this time, in English…I’d have to say another interesting one is the upcoming sequel to “The Iron Thorn”, “The Nightmare Garden”. I seriously cannot wait for this one to come out. I highlighted it last week on the “On My Wishlist” meme. I can’t even start to wonder why that title was used, but I can’t wait to find out.
The Synopsis: Everything Aoife thought she knew about the world was a lie. There is no Necrovirus. And Aoife isn’t going to succomb to madness because of a latent strain—she will lose her faculties because she is allergic to iron. Aoife isn’t human. She is a changeling—half human and half from the land of Thorn. And time is running out for her. When Aoife destroyed the Lovecraft engine she released the monsters from the Thorn Lands into the Iron Lands and now she must find a way to seal the gates and reverse the destruction she’s ravaged on the world that’s about to poison her.
