Hosted by GReads!. Who’s ready for the weekend?! I know I am! I’m introducing a new(ish) feature for Fridays to re-cap the week’s posts & to propose a question for my followers.
This Friday’s Question: Promote An Author: Is there a particular author you wish got more recognition? Pick one author & tell us why we should read their work.
A hard question, but I think just because of his sheer obscurity in the States, it has to be John Ajvide Lindqvist, author of “Let the Right One In”, “Harbor”, “Handling the Undead” and his most recent work translated into English, “Little Star” (due out in October 2012 from Thomas Dunne Books in the US/Canada). He’s so incredibly unappreciated in the world of horror fiction and magical realism that it’s kind of heartbreaking, and he also does awesome screenplays for both TV and film. His subjects cover everything from childhood trauma to vampires to bullying to zombies. He’s got an incredibly broad range in where he puts his skills in writing and never ceases to amaze me whenever a new book comes out. It’s hard to get in touch with him, though – but you can use his official website, specifically, here on his official forum where you can ask him questions in both Swedish and English (yes, he speaks both!).
Check out the following of his English-translated work on GR:
“Let the Right One In”
“Handling the Undead”
“Harbor”
“Little Star”
